I expanded this year's squash garden to try my thumb at growing flowers for drying and despite crucial weeks of neglect, or perhaps because of said, while our attention was focused on storm clean up, these beauties have thrived. And yet, last night's forecast was unusually low, even for this point in the season, and there are still many flower heads in the development stage that I didn't want damaged, so we scrounged the farmhouse for old sheets and tarps and covered our remaining tomatoes, basil and a plethora of flowers until their time is nigh, while I dug out something warm from my sock drawer for the night. It's hard to believe the most humid day of the entire summer was just a few fleeting days ago, while frosty conditions called for drastic measures in the garden and in my sleeping attire. I declare fall has officially arrived and with it, sock season has begun.

I'm ready for sock season. Summer begone!
Sock season here too. In fact I have wool socks on right now. Cool tonight although not last night when we in the mid thirties. Brrrrrr . . .
Here in Virginia the nights are quite cool, too. Temperatures dropped down to 48 degrees. I love the nip in the air but our days are pleasant and warm. Your floral pic is so fitting for the season. Lovely.
I absolutely agree...after temperatures in the 90's, it was 38 Friday morning! I'm welcoming fall, I love the season, but yes...it does send me scurrying to find sheets to cover up what's still blooming in the garden! -Mary PS...it's flannel sheet season here too!)
Bring on the sock season! Yay!

We started out heater today. I wore a hoodie all day. I love the cooler weather. However, I don't love my heater running.
