Love in a Mist

I purchased a dried flower bouquet several years ago that was full of Love in a Mist pods. I didn't know what they were at the time, but over the past winter I happened across them in a floral book and once identified, they went to the top of my seed list, which lead to my over producing flower garden this year. So successful it is that I have plans for expansion next year but I haven't fully divulged this plan to the Artist however. Let's just keep it a secret between us, for now, okay?

I met Michael Pollan last weekend. Nearing the front of the line, my knees began to shake a little. When my turn approached, he greeted me with a warm hello and a large smile, and as I put my books in front of him, I blurted, "This is better than meeting Bono!" Then I quickly realized, that perhaps it might sound as if I had indeed, at some point in my life, actually met Bono, which, for the record, I have not. That's more than okay though, because I've met Michael Pollan, champion for the environment and fixing our broken food system and much to the likely dismay of the lady running the book signing line, my copy of Cooked received a personal dedication.

I went to a meeting of a local camera club this week. I expected a handful of people, the church basement where they meet was overflowing. Large groups really aren't my thing, but photography, on the other hand, is. I'm still not certain which way this will go.

I am in the midst of canning mayhem. My tomatoes were late to ripen this year, and yields are slightly lower, but there is still plenty of sauce to be made. Better too much than not enough, I say but I'm also hoping to hang up my canning lids for a while....

....because the first load of wood was delivered this week. Enough said.
