I'm not sure what I was expecting, but when I pictured our two Ameraucana chicks growing out their first feathers, this colouring wasn't what I had in mind. The colouring of the other, is more white on black. They're our new yin and yang chicks. They're colouring is rather unique, especially amongst a sea of partridge chanteclers. I'm just hoping they really are Ameraucana and will be doubly pleased if they turn out to be the egg laying variety and not of the kind that likes to crow all the live long day because one of those around here is plenty.
There are still a few more days to enter the Novica giveaway. See here for the particulars.

Pretty! :)
Oh Andrea I love the colour. I have honestly never seen one of these I do hope it does not have you jumping out of bed before dawn trying to close the windows; I love that sound but then again the chickens are far away at my neighbours so it is not very loud just soothing. Hope all is well. HUGS B
It will be interesting to their actually color. Ours are the black and white. Rather nasty hens--aggressive. I hope yours a more mild. They may be a lovely brown.
Oh how neat, and beautiful!
Fresh eggs would be a good thing!
sweet little thing! i shared your post with clytie at random hearts because of the little hearts dancing around her chest...
Yes. Too many crowers can be a bad thing. LOL It sure is a lovely bird/chicken/rooster though.
I think the Ameraucanas are some of the prettiest chickens out there and yours is no exception! :)
Sure hope it's the egg-laying variety, one rooster is plenty.
That definitely is a pullet, so I wouldn't worry... and she's gorgeous!
What a stunning portrait of this beautiful bird!
Beautiful girl. I was disappointed I didn't get any of this breed in my pullet mix this year.
So pretty!
We just got chickens again after several years without them..
I'm not sure exactly what the little two are, (they are a mix, and a wait & see kind of thing) but we have one that has stole my heart, the little beauty!

Ooh, you grabbed my attention as I share your thoughts with my multicolored Ameraucanas! Mine are turning out to be a very assorted batch. They are very sweet though. I hope to post on all the goings ons in our coop soon! As usual, love your pics and blog.
