Life around here the last few days has left me feeling like I've been watching reruns.
Another goose family, this time with just one gosling in tow, stopped by for a quick visit and a
dip in the pond. I looked for evidence of backpacks to carry the babe in but nothing could be found.
Meanwhile, the second and last hatch of the year from the incubator is ready for lock down; just waiting for the Artist to get home so we can seal it up. I do think it's important for both parents to be involved in the delivery process from beginning to end. We're expecting twelve New Hampshires and two Chanteclers but we'll see what the stork decides we should have this weekend.
And then there's this...
You got it, another swarm, first sighted by the girl twin. I began to panic just a wee bit, but I checked my hives and I knew these bees weren't mine. Then I relaxed a little but I didn't have the inclination to try and capture this one. They were back in the same willow, only much higher. I set out a hive box and what I could scrounge up for a makeshift bottom board and cover and put the few frames I had left inside and figured if they were desperate enough, they could call it home. I'm pretty sure they tried to take over my new split; thankfully I had an entrance reducer in and I watched as the guard bees on duty repeatedly drove the scout bees from the swarm away.
I'm enjoying these summer reruns...and I don't even have cable.
~Be well friends and
Happy Birthday Mom
Love you!~

There were a couple of geese walking down my sidewalk yesterday. Luckily, my dogs failed to notice.

I have cable, but rarely watch it -- there's too much to see outdoors!
Fabulous shots and it's obvious you are learning much about beekeeping! Awesome!
That shot of the swarm is amazing! Sorry I been so quiet these last couple weeks, I’ve been really ill (now finally diagnosed with Whooping Cough even though I was immunized) and have had another very rough week.
Tell us what causes a swarm. We need to know :) And you are the all-mighty guru bee-keeper!
Happy Birthday to Andrea's mom!!
LYLAS!

Wow!! And I missed yet another bee post. Sheesh :-) I'll try to do better. I can imagine how you felt when you saw this swarm! I had grand plans and an arsenal of swarm lure.. really thought we'd try and lure a wild swarm this year. Yah right! Where does the time go?! -Tammy
