While the Artist and I were out weeding the fruit beds one evening, we decided to bring Ember along and begin to acclimatize her to the great outdoors. She appears to have the makings of a natural born hunter; she crouched among the soy bean seedlings and stalked every bug in sight and when she tired of that game she ran wild all around us, running through the strawberry patch to gather enough speed to leap over the tall grass that lines one of the small pond feeders. She was zipping around so quickly, at some point she must have become a little disoriented or perhaps she lost her head a little because seconds after she ran full tilt past me, I heard a large splash. I turned around expecting to see Callie wading in the pond or the usual tell tale ripples on the water of a fish jumping. I saw neither. What I did see was a certain redhead scrambling out of the water so fast it looked like she was water skiing. She had leaped over a different spot of grass not realizing there was a pond on the other side.
It might just be me, but I could have sworn she slowed down a little after that.
It was at that point I decided I'm glad that should I ever fall into the pond,
I won't have to lick myself clean.
And then it was decided, much to the chagrin of Ember,
that perhaps a return to the old farmhouse,
for a proper cleaning was most certainly in order.

Ciao, over from Kim's TT. I love what you did with her texture and the adorable kitty! :)
ReplyDeleteCute kitty and I bet that proper cleaning was a lot of fun for the owner!
ReplyDeletePoor baby, I bet that was a shock!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photographs.
What a precious kitty! Love the look the textures gave to these photos!
ReplyDeleteShe's such a cute little kitten even soaking wet! Love your photos!

oh, thanks for letting us share her manic kitten-ness. :)
ReplyDeletePoor kitty...I love the top photo.
ReplyDeleteKitties just hate getting wet so much! Lovely photos though.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought Kitty's hated water.
ReplyDeleteHello Andrea!
ReplyDeleteLOL don't they make you laugh with their antics. Your Ember is a sweetie and looks to be a little older than our Henry. I'm so glad you had your camera with you so you were able to capture the end result...wouldn't you have loved to capture that on video! I wonder if she ever runs full tilt towards the pond again LOL! I hope your weather is cooler up there than it is down here. Our temperatures are hovering around 40C and have been for quite some time. This Canadian is having trouble handling the heat but gardens need watering and chickens need checking on so I have to suck it up. Enjoy your kitty and have a wonderful week!
Maura :)
Awwww Ember! They always seem so embarrassed when they goof like that. That is a very sweet Marmelade face in the last shot Andrea! Love those little pink paw pads :)

What a pretty cat but I had to laugh at her 'accident'. I'm sure she'll be far more cautious from now on;-)
ReplyDeleteI had to give Bo a bath yesterday. He literally screamed like a baby and we had a whole audience of felines and canines watching the bath!
ReplyDeleteLovely pics. Adorable Ember...and she won't make that mistake again!
Nope. Nada.

ReplyDeleteAhhhh---I have not laughed this hard in a LONG time--thank you! I have had a cat jump in a bathtub of water and get out quicker than a wink....but it happened so fast it was just done and over...this I could see so clearly in my mind's eye. Aren't cats wonderful?
ReplyDeleteI tell everyone this, so hope I am not repeating myself...are you familiar with the videos of Simon's cat? If not, google it...
