Ocean View

I'm still having some fun with photos of Portugal taken by the male twin. Since I've begun using textures I've had a craving for working with an ocean shot, particularly with a boat. Glimmer twins must have ESP as the male twin returned home with a lovely specimen.

Here's the original photo:
And here's a gussied up version:
I applied Kim Klassen's Cool Grunge texture to screen mode at 48% opacity and masked out the boat on this layer. Next I applied texture number 9 from Shadowhouse Creations 'A Mixed Bag' set set to multiply at 12% opacity.  I think I use this set more than just about any other. I always play around with levels, and exposure until it looks just right to me, but I couldn't tell you what the settings are. It's just fun to play.

  1. Andrea....that is AWESOME!!! What a difference the textures make...I LOVE it. We just got home a while ago and I haven't had a chance to try what you said so I'll be doing that this evening. I've always wanted to try textures but I was afraid it would be too complicated. Kim sure has opened opened doors for us hasn't she! Have fun 'playing' and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. Oh and thank you again for your help ;) Have a wonderful evening.

  6. The photo turned out great. I work similarly, I keep tweaking and adjusting until I get the look I want. It would be very hard to go back and tell you exactly what i did!

  9. Okay, I'm gonna have to get Photoshop and give it a try! Put aside my fears! Your photos are lovely...and Portugal, what an experience! For us this year it's a trip to Lake Erie, but hey, maybe I'll find some terrific boats to photograph! Thanks for inspiring us...Mary
