The last of the vegetable garden is finally in the ground. Now, of course, that it's finally dry enough to plant, it's really dry. How dry is it? It's so dry you can hear the soil sucking up the water. And I got my exercise in tonight traveling back and forth from the pond with watering can in hand, a few dozen times. Once finished, I headed back around the pond, passing the fruit beds along the way and I realized how much the blackberries are like the Glimmer Twins, and the veggie patches are like a pair of newborns. One needs constant care, the other can be left to its own devices every now and then. Here's to growing up.

i love these blossoms! they're my new favorite - even more than dogwoods which have held my heart for a long time!
And what sweet treats to gather on your way to growing up...!
After all my watering each night (about 45 minutes worth) I can see what you mean!! But it's all worth it when the veggies and fruit are ready to eat. And I never complain about watering my flowers since I'm the one that wanted them!

That's a very sweet & true analogy!
Andrea great shot I love your commentary. B
Something about the thought of watering from a pond makes me giggle!
What a gorgeous shot!
Oh, this year is kicking my butt! Too wet, then too dry. It's too much! Is it too much to ask for a happy medium?
I use the stream near the garden to water, so I totally understand where you're coming from.
Why is that? Why is it either draught or drenched??!! Well at least there was exercise right? Can't wait to see all the beautiful fruits & veggies in store!
we're in the same boat with the rain situation. May was overwet and now all the rains are missing us, so I've been carting water too. It's so rewarding when all our hard work produces something beautiful isn't it. Have a great weekend
Yum, love blackberries! I think it's so funny that you and I are reading the same book again. From time-to-time when I visit you we are on the same one. I guess great minds think alike!
Have a great weekend!
