It was a picture perfect day today. A day full of sunshine and happiness as far as the eye could see. And it was a pleasant respite after days of grey skies and rain, and then more rain for good measure, I suppose. There are days when I am amazed at how much water our pond will hold, and they're usually followed by nights where I'm a little more than nervous that we just might wake up with the farmhouse floating in said pond.
While I was out and about tonight, I decided to capture some final images of our forsythia, which has reached its peak. Did you know the forsythia is a member of the olive family? And while I was out, I noticed the sun didn't set until just after eight this evening and the magnolia blossoms were shyly peeking out of their fuzzy green covers at me. I could hear them whispering amongst themselves, reassuring each other that it was indeed okay to come out and play.
It's starting to feel like spring around here. It's about time!

Forsythia is pure joy. There is not an ounce, not a glimmer of sadness or even knowledge in forsythia. Pure, undiluted, untouched joy.

Oh I miss my forsythia trees that I left behind in Illinois when we moved here to Southwest Wisconsin. I'm going to have to find one and plant it here :)

There's not doubt that there are two artists in your family! Beautiful photo! And I love forsythia - had no idea that it was related to the olive tree. That's even more exciting (because I've wanted an olive tree, but they won't grow here due to the cold).

Forsythia is my fave! And I only cut it when it begins to invade the front steps; I like the cottagy look of it!

What a stunning photo! I absoultely love forsythia- ours peaked at what seems like ages ago down here in NC. Right now our magnolia blossoms are in full bloom and the fragrance is divine!!

I didn't know that was a forsythia. The neighbor's has poked itself through the fence and it has been beautiful to look at.

I just take few shots of my forsythia, here in Finland it is more like bush as a tree. I love the bright yellow color.

Yes, forsythia is the first sign of spring in many parts. When I used to live in Michigan, I felt hope of warmth when the bushes started to bud.
