I snapped this pic of a blossom on our magnolia tree near the close of a perfect spring evening, just as the blossoms were starting to awaken and the sun was ready to call it a day. As soon as I caught a quick glimpse of the image on the camera screen, I could envision how it would look textured. I guess that's a sign that I might be starting to get this whole texture thing. It's been a long road baby and I've barely left the off ramp but I'm ready for the ride.
The blossoms are out a full month later than last year, but they're making up for it now. One of my favourite things about this time of year, is watching various areas around the pond come to life. By the time the magnolia has finished her dance, the lilac will step up and give us an encore.
I used a new freebie texture from the Cafe called Trust and another freebie Sweettart. And I'm linking up to Texture Tuesday over at Kim Klassen Cafe. You should check it out, the submissions are breathtaking and humbling.
And this week's movie? There wasn't a whole lot of movie watching, the weather was too nice to be hanging indoors but we did manage to sneak one in on Friday night, Nanny McPhee Returns. Another good family movie and the male twin, who has insisted for the last six months that he did not want to see it, did an about face before the movie ended. Taking place in the English countryside during WWII, the sets are idyllic but for children the following scene must be the highlight of the movie.
Tell me, where might I get a pig like that?
~Be well friends~
Very Pretty... I really like them trees, wish I had one in my yard.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Our neighbors have a magnolia tree and I love seeing it in full bloom! Love this photo! :)

ReplyDeleteLovely texture work!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. The spring was so late this year, so cold and so sad. Are we talking about global warming or about global cooling here?
ReplyDeleteYour magnolia looks gorgeous, I will have one planted this autumn for sure.
Kisses and hugs,
Camelia

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photograph!
ReplyDeleteI want a pig like that too!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic Andrea! I need to try the texture "thing" out too. I signed up for the freebies but haven't sat down to give it a try yet.
ReplyDeleteOur magnolia was late this year as well. One nice thing about the cooler weather was that the blossoms actually stayed on the tree for a record number of days! Usually by the time it is fully in bloom the petals start to drop and drop quickly... this year they've been hanging in for a few WEEKS!
Hope spring is finally heading your (and my) way,
Chris

ReplyDeleteOur first home we owned had a magnificent 25 year old saucer Magnolia. If it wasn't too windy or wet, we would have a gorgeous display on the massive tree. I miss it everytime I see one.
ReplyDeleteI just love your magnolia blossom! The colors are beautiful. I especially like that you can see the little fuzzy stuff on the outside of the blossom.
ReplyDeleteI love magnolias, and this is a wonderful pic.
