The Dance of the Tulip

Said the sun to the fair maiden, "Will you dance for me?" "I will", she replied, but first tell me, why must you leave each evening? Don't you know how cold and dark it is without you here?" "My dear," said the sun. "All you need to do is tuck yourself amongst my rays and I will carry you with me, and you will never know cold or darkness again."

There are beautiful yellow tulips gracing both sides of the front porch of the old farmhouse. I gaze at them in astonishment each day as I pull in the drive. I'm amazed, not because of how lovely they are but rather because this is our third spring in the farmhouse yet this is the first time they have bloomed here, and I didn't plant them. Do tulips go dormant and come back or do I have a tulip fairy looking out for me? If it's the latter, I only hope she returns next year.

And have you been wondering, by chance, who won the bookmark giveaway?

The girl twin and I have been struck with a bad case of the sniffles,
but we finally got our act together. I'll let her tell you who won.

And yes, it's May 17th and we have a fire going.
Really.

  2. You are very lucky to just have tulips popping up, what a gorgeous surprise. Normally they need to be pulled out after flowering and bulbs replanted for next season.
Beautiful texture, and a sweet owl.

  15. Hello! This is my first visit to your blog. I saw your link at Cottage Flora Thursday. I don't know much about tulips but I'd like to plant some one day. Just think of yours as a little gift from the past! We are restoring an old home, too. I'm now following you and I'm off to read some more of your posts.
