Sunday Milk

Once upon a time, my step-mom introduced me to the taste of a little Sunday milk, as she likes to call it, in my coffee.

It's Bailey's flavouring to be exact, and I always enjoy having a wee bit added to my coffee over the Christmas holidays. The price, however, makes my toes curl, so on the advice of the Artist, I researched some recipes on line and came up with this concoction.

1 cup Irish Whiskey
1 can condensed milk
1 cup whipping cream
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon peppermint extract

I prefer the Mint Chocolate variety so I increased the chocolate syrup from 2 to 3 tablespoons and used mint flavouring rather than almond extract.

Add all ingredients into blender.
Mix for a minute.
Easy Peasy.

Then enjoy for less than half the cost!

Keep refrigerated and it should last you for at least a month.

I purchased cream with an expiry date of early February with the thought that it
should keep until the cream expires. If it lasts that long.

Well, we do usually have lots of house guests over the holidays!

Oh yes, and the giveaway?

I just played the random number generator lottery and the winning number is number eight belonging to none other than the dearest, sweetest, best blogging girl I know.

MISHA

If you haven't visited with Misha on her front porch then you're missing time well spent with her beautiful horses, Senorita Andalucia (I'm her honorary Auntie!) Miss D, Allegra, Allure, and Cadence, and a houseful and barn full or critters in all shapes and sizes.

And the view is simply to die for.

Really, why are you still here?

Go. Now.

My husband loves a little Bailey's in his coffee during the holidays. He found a decent price at Costco (so he told me when he came home with it last week!). But your "mint chocolate" variety appeals to me! Surely I've mentioned my love of peppermint mocha lattes...

Thanks for the recipe!

We used to make a similar concoction years ago. Your recipe sounds so perfect for the weather here - woke up to a fresh skiff of snow. I will have Tramp 1 make it (he needs something fun to do while he recovers) and we will also add the mint flavor like you do. Thanks!

Ahhh yes. Bailey's in coffee is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. We made some a few years ago now....thanks for the reminder of how-to.

Andrea this sounds delicious...I'm going to have to try this and I was just thinking...if I could find some cute small bottles it would be a nice gift to take to someones home when you visit over the holidays! Hmm..I'll have to look for bottles today as we're heading into the city. Thanks for the idea! Enjoy your day.

My girlfriends and I often spoof an old Saturday Night Live skit that said "moms LOVE Baileys!" Will try this and as Maura said, try tucking a few small bottles in some Mommy gift baskets.
Congratulations to Misha, I love her blog too.
Thanks for sharing both!
hugs,
Leslie
