It seems there are differing opinions as to the official first day of fall but seeing as the autumnal equinox is today, I'll be doing the happy dance of fall all day long. Anyways, it was hot here yesterday and it didn't feel a bit like fall. However, the small strokes of red across the tops of the trees are a sure sign that fall is moving in and she's here to stay.
Of course, around the old farmhouse, we have our own sure sign that fall is here.
Someone has a lot of work to do. And it's not the resident squirrel chaser.

WOW! Andrea! That's a lot of wood - who's gonna have to stack all of that!? I am anxious to get to the cabin, my landlord has put a load of wood in the shed for me so that I can start cooking right away when I get moved in. I'm excited, and will have to look into get a bunch more wood before the cool weather sets in, and the price of wood goes higher and higher. There is a place where I can buy a dumptruck load, and will probably buy 2 loads, and then also get some smaller stuff by the pickup truck load for easier cooking. Looks like you and I will have our work cut out for us, huh? Take care, from KY.

That does look like a lot of wood! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a to-do list for fall...of course my big project is cleaning the barn; so I can actually get to the wood pile! How do these "things" pile up?!

Fall my favorite time of year!!! Yippy.... but wow... thats a lot of work ya got piled up there. ;)
wow....will you use all of that in one year? Believe it or not in the high desert it gets cold and starting around Dec we havae a fire in the wood stove every day..

We've had such a hot, hot, hot and humid summer, we're all looking forward to fall and cooler temps. So far we are still in the mid 90's (argh), but it is supposed to cool down next week. Yeah!

What? It's not all stacked up nice and pretty yet? LOL! Just had to mention that, didn't I? Ours stays in a big ol' disorganized heap all season long. We'll see if we do any better this year (doubt). I love that picture, btw! -T
Fall! It is definitely my second favorite season! :) Summer has been my favorite season thus far, just because I enjoy having summers off as currently I am a teacher at a public school (once we have children I will be staying home with them!) I am just beginning to start a homestead with my husband though, and I am betting once I get busy in the summers with gardening etc. I will enjoy fall all the more! Although, it looks like there is plenty of work to be done in the fall also!
Looks like our side yard! LOL! That would be enough wood for about one month in Jan! Amazing how fast you go through it, isn't it?!
Callie looks quite content to supervise. Uh-hem..not lifting one paw to help. But, then her job is squirrel patrol and looking beautiful :)
Andrea, it is hot here too! It was 60 in northern Ohio Monday! 97 here! ugh! C'mon Fall!!!

Our wood pile is finally stacked, all five cords. I tell myself stacking wood builds character, aides in muscle toning and curbs an expanding waistline!
