In a few weeks, our wedding will be taking place in our backyard. We had originally planned on tying the knot last summer but after falling in love with the property last spring, we decided to wait so that we could hold the event at our forever home. With that decision, our so called 'theme' is a country-garden wedding.
My husband has been working diligently today, fixing the bridge at the back of the property. A few boards need replacing and we plan on painting it. It's actually a test run for the colours we have chosen to paint the old farmhouse; a job that will probably take a couple of summers to complete. The ceremony will take place in front of the bridge, while a large tent will be set up behind the bridge for the 'feast and merriment to follow' as indicated on the wedding invites.
When I thought about what I would wear, I decided that I wanted something simple, yet still pretty. I've always been a less is more kind of gal. I came across this photo of Jill Barber, whose latest album Chances is delightful by the way, and liked her dress...
...but it wasn't exactly what I wanted so I asked myself what I liked about it and decided that it was the empire waist. Suddenly, Jane Austin popped into my head. I had an image but I didn't know what it was called. I soon realized the late 18th, early 19th century was the Regency period and after a lot of searching my mom and I both found this pattern on-line the same day.
My amazing mom is making the dress for me and is probably working on it as we speak. She's hoping to bring it for a final fitting this weekend. I will ask her to take some sneak peak photos but I can't give the whole dress away before the big day, it is possible that one or two of the forty or so guests may actually read this blog!

I am with Linda! Amazing :)
We were married on our property here in Tn 4 years ago. In the mornings when I walk to the barn, I think...this is where we said our vows!
How blessed you both are. I can't wait for you!
