Forty years ago today, my mother thought she was constipated. Fortunately for me, my grandfather, on his lunch break, brought my grandmother over to my parents apartment who wisely suggested that my mom head across the street to the hospital. Two hours later, I arrived.
That's right, I turned forty today, a fairly significant milestone; and I did thank God this morning for blessing me with a wonderful forty years. I have been told it's all down hill from here and my memory failed me so badly today I almost believe 'them'. I delivered my kids to tennis camp in the city where I work; early I might add which is pretty impressive for me, only to be told they were registered for tennis next week. They were supposed to be at science camp at the local university which is in the other direction from the old farm, an hour away from where I work. Needless to say, I was late for work, but I did manage to get there in time to take a lot of ribbing.
So despite getting the day and the week, but hopefully not the year, off to a rather poor start, it was a day full of best wishes and congratulations from many friends, colleagues and family...all beautiful people. That is what I will remember most about turning 40.
